Farnsworth 5-8 After School Club (ASC) offers both academic and enrichment opportunities for students in grades 5 – 8.  Academic classes are designed primarily to serve children who are not at grade level in reading and/or math, but all students are eligible to enroll. Participants receive one hour of academic assistance along with one hour of enrichment every day.

Sign up for the Fall Session will begin in September 2010.

*Students may join the after school program at any point during the school year, but registration forms must be returned one week before a child can begin participating.

Fall enrichment classes include: Kids in the Kitchen, Crafts Club, Service-Learning Youth, Kung Fu/Martial Arts, Hmong Dance, Lego Robotics, Digital Photography, Book Club, Sports & Recreation, and Yoga.

Each year, Farnsworth collaborates with three elementary schools: Dayton's Bluff Achievement Plus Elementary, John A. Johnson Achievement Plus Elementary, and Phalen Lake Elementary to offer opportunities for fifth and sixth grade students to visit and take part in activities at Cleveland. The program is designed to help elementary students make the transition to a junior high school environment.  Activities will include family nights, intra-school activities, and summer opportunities.

Students that are in the MN Zoo Mentor Adventures Enrichment Class went to the Minnesota Zoo on Saturday, October 25, 2008. We enjoyed seeing the animals from the monorail and on foot. Each of us even made a puffer fish to take home. It was a great opportunity to explore the zoo with our families.
At the tide pool. Working as a team. Prairie dogs were fun to watch. Blowing up his puffer fish. Following the directions closely. Waiting to watch the bird show. We can't wait to see the bird show and help the detective solve the mystery of the missing pumpkins. In the show, we saw a rooster, mice, a hawk, a parrot, a toucan, and an owl. That's the life! See all 13 images.
