Robotics
For 9 days we work in 4 stations (one hour at each station). The stations are called:  Structures- Mr. Barrett, Junk Robotics-Johanson, NASA Robitics _ Mueller/Wallace, and Lego Robotics-Schreiber and Xiong.
We also have a NASA specialist AESP with us week one. His name is Mr. Storm Robinson.

There are very many photos here. Many will be removed and only a select few will remain. We wanted the students (95) to get to see themselves in action.

Students learn that every job has tools of the trade. Parts have names and special purposes. Legos have specific names. Teams are more successful if they use the correct names for the parts. Games were played using the correct names for parts. Students used 3 pieces of Legos and had to build something with only three parts and describe which parts to pick out and how to build without showing how. This was pretty challenging.
The person looking away has to build the machine the person behind her built using only words and the proper parts. She got to use a parts list for help. Engaged in the activity. Student built an item and described which parts to take and how to build the structure.

This is the cantilever challenge. Students use the same amount of legos and string to make an arm that extends out away from a table as far as possible. They have one hour to complete teh task. Winners get a prize.
