On May 12, 2005, Cleveland Middle School received a letter from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
".....Thank you very much for reporting Cleveland's most recent cleanup
efforts along Ames Lake....According to our records, this is the ninth
cleanup the school has reported since joining the Adopt-a-River Program
in 2001. These cleanups have removed a total of 3,892 pounds of
garbage from the area around the lake. Keep up the great work!
Even more important than your cleanup work is the fact that your
actions signal a turn-around in the community's attitudes about
waterways and a difference is being made! The work you are doing
not only improves the area right now but it also relays the message
that someone cares for the area so it is not okay for people to litter
on it.
Again, thank you for all of your hard work and dedication to the Adopt-a-River Program......."
